MUSCAT: In cooperation between the Royal Academy of Management (RAM) and the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD), 'Tasmu' initiative was launched to enhancing the leadership capabilities of Omani women in the public and private sectors and civil society.


The launched was under the auspices of Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development. The initiative targeted 50 Omani women under a period of four months and highlighting the societal impact of women leaders and promoting the exchange of experiences.


In addition to, adopting a more strategic perspective, the initiative goes beyond individual programmes under a broader development framework.


Dr Ali bin Qasim al Lawati, President of the Royal Academy of Management (RAM), stressed that Omani women play a crucial role in advancing the Omani development agenda, as they hold many leadership positions in various sectors.


By launching the 'Tasmu' programme, the Academy reinforces its commitment to supporting and empowering Omani women leaders through active participation in national leadership programmes, with ensuring that they are well prepared to face future challenges and seize opportunities for growth and innovation.


This initiative is consistent with the strategic objectives of 'Oman Vision 2040', which gives priority to empowering women in all sectors.


He emphasised that the initiative framework also adopts a new concept of development, recently developed by international standards, which combines sustainable development and human capital development under the slogan 'sustainable human development.'

This concept emphasises expanding individuals' choices by unleashing their full potential in ways that ensure lasting economic and social sustainability.


Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, said: “The initiative empowers the leadership capabilities of Omani women and aims to significantly enhance the role of Omani women in national development. It focuses on preparing them for supervisory roles by enriching knowledge and practical experiences, and enhancing their abilities for self-leadership at the personal and professional levels as the initiative aims to raise their presence in the sectors of public administration, business management and investment. It is in alignment with international standards confirms Oman’s commitment to promoting gender equality and promoting equal opportunities in leadership positions.”


Dr Fathiya bint Abdullah al Rashidiyah, Acting Vice-President for Programme Affairs at the Royal Academy of Management, said the programmes seek to create an encouraging and stimulating learning environment that supports innovation, critical and strategic thinking, enhances self-confidence and the ability to make the right decisions.


She added that the participants will also be provided with the latest knowledge and experiences, and will strongly advance development efforts and consolidate Sultanate of Oman’s experience globally in promoting women’s participation in leadership positions.


It looks to create a supportive environment for women to excel and lead, which represents a major step towards empowering women leaders in Oman. It also seeks to raise and harness the potential of Omani women and their pivotal role in advancing the economy, and includes a variety of programmes, sessions, meetings and field visits.


Kawthar bint Abdullah al Mahrouqiyah,'Tasmu' initiative Director, mentioned that the initiative revolves around four main components, and each component is designed to achieve the initiative’s objectives, particularly empowering women leaders skilled in decision-making, team leadership, and strategic implementation, while adhering to contemporary international leadership practices.


The 'Tasmu' initiative includes an extensive media training programme aimed at refining participants’ personal presentation skills, mastering communication across various media platforms, and enhancing public speaking abilities.


It also focuses on establishing a strong digital presence and developing sustainable financial strategies to effectively manage resources, including budgeting for investment projects, engaging stakeholders, and mitigating economic and financial risks.


Furthermore, the initiative includes a leadership boot camp to develop self-leadership skills and guide participants in making insightful decisions about their future leadership roles.


The graduation is scheduled to take place on October 17, coinciding with Omani Women’s Day.
