MUSCAT: The Committee tasked with monitoring the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) on Sunday held its first meeting for 2024. The meeting was chaired by Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, and Chairperson of the committee. Al Najjar affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman accords great care to empowering women in various fields.


Moreover, the committee highlighted the efforts exerted regarding the fourth national report of CEDAW. It also touched on the concluding comments and recommendations, as well as the preliminary procedures that are undertaken regarding the national report. — ONA
