Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received a phone call from the King of Sweden, who expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Majesty for the efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman to reach understandings between his country and Iran for the release and repatriation of two Swedish citizens.

During the call, His Majesty the King expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Majesty the Sultan for the efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman in reaching understandings between his country and the Islamic Republic of Iran to release two Swedish citizens and return them to their country, noting the positive role that the Sultanate of Oman is contributing to resolving many international issues.

During the call, the strong bilateral relations between the two friendly countries were reviewed, in addition to exchanging views on the latest developments in regional events of common interest.

It may be noted that, at the behest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, to respond to the request of the Iranian and Swedish governments to help settle the issue of citizens detained in the two countries, the Omani efforts resulted in an agreement between the two sides on the mutual release.

Those released were transferred from Tehran and Stockholm to Muscat for repatriation.

The Sultanate of Oman values the positive spirit that prevailed in the talks held in Muscat between the Iranian and Swedish sides.

Oman also appreciated their keenness to settle this humanitarian matter.
