MUSCAT: Oman's Junior hockey team thrashed Hong Kong 6-0 in a match that held on Thursday as part of the underway 2024 Asian Junior Hockey Cup in Singapore. Oman dominated the first half of the match, putting immense pressure on Hong Kong's goal and successfully converting it into two early goals. Talal Bait opened the scoring in the third minute from a direct free kick, followed by Aiman Madit adding the second goal from a penalty in the eighth minute. Oman maintained their relentless attack in the second half, netting two more goals. Talal Bait scored his second goal of the match, also his second penalty, in the 17th minute, ending the half with Oman leading 3-0. The third half witnessed complete control by Oman's team, as Hong Kong players retreated without creating any significant scoring opportunities. Talal Bait completed his hat-trick for Oman from a penalty in the 33rd minute, followed by Hudhaifa al Balushi adding the fourth goal in the 45th minute. Oman concluded the third half with a commanding 5-0 lead. In the dying minutes of the match, Oman scored one last goal to seal a crushing 6-0 victory. Rashid al Alawi netted the final goal in the 48th minute, securing Oman's triumph. Oman has one remaining match to determine their fifth-place position, having lost their chance to compete for the top four spots after suffering two defeats in previous rounds.
