The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) handled 947 fire incidents on farms, agricultural waste and weeds over the course of last year up from 851 fire incidents a year earlier. This type of fires usually occur when safety guidelines go unheeded especially in the summer. The CDAA called on farmers to follow safety norms such as storing fertilisers and pesticides in designated places and not to expose them to the sun heat, and not to ignite fires for cooking or grilling near trees or weeds.
