The Oman Network for Scientific Research and Education (OMREN), affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, participated in the COMEX 2024 exhibition in its 33rd edition.

OMREN team presented a group of electronic services that serve researchers and academic fields, and enhance support for the process of scientific research and innovation in Oman.

Among the services offered is the virtual library system (Masader), which provides access to millions of books, scientific journals, and research studies through an easy-to-use interface.

The educational roaming service (Eduroam) also allows researchers and students to stay connected to the Internet while they are in any educational institution where the service is available inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman.

The Omani Research Repository System (Shuaa) allows the publication of scientific research by Omani researchers, and enhances access to it by researchers and educational institutions.

Mirsal file transfer service allows large files to be transferred safely and quickly between researchers and educational institutions.

In her comments to Oman Observer, Fatima al Rashidi, Marketing Specialist at OMREN, said, “OMREN is keen to provide a unique experience to the visitors of the exhibition through its distinctive corner, which differs from its previous participations, as this edition relied on modern technologies and virtual reality to display the various services and explain their objectives in an enjoyable way to the audience so that they cannot be delivered by traditional methods.” “We appreciate the importance of keeping up with modern technological developments, and their use in various fields of scientific research and education,” she said.

This participation is an embodiment of our commitment to this approach and our keenness to provide a distinctive experience for visitors that contributes to enhancing awareness of the importance of digital transformation and its role in supporting the process of sustainable development in Oman, she added.

The corner, according to her, has been very popular among the visitors. “We are pleased with the positive feedback we have received. We affirm our commitment to providing innovative services that contribute to supporting the process of scientific research and education in the Sultanate of Oman.” Hisham al Araimi, a senior marketing specialist, said: “We are keen on cooperation with institutions through which we provide the best services to the public through these partnerships, the Fixed Business Broadband service.” The Fixed Business Broadband provides fixed broadband with very high internet speed that can reach 1 Gbps.

Omren, through its strategic partner, Omantel, provides fixed business broadband service to Omren members with different packages to enhance performance, productivity and interaction. Members are provided with the highest possible download and upload speeds while making the best effort so that all communications are provided with the latest security and confidentiality solutions.
