The Ministry of Interior is showcasing its range of electronic services at the COMEX 2024 exhibition, emphasising digital transformation and the ministry’s key applications. On the first day of the exhibition, the ministry unveiled the ‘Alathar’ application, which streamlines the management of personal and professional meetings, facilitating communication and enhancing productivity.

Majed al Sanani from the ministry’s IT Department highlighted the app’s importance and said: “Efficiently managing meetings and appointments is crucial for institutional productivity and goal achievement. The ‘Alathar’ app offers an intuitive interface for setting up meetings and their details, along with interactive tools like voting and opinion polls to boost participation and decision-making.” Another application named ‘Tanmia’ aims to empower municipal councils with innovative tools, acting as a digital interface between Omani society and municipal authorities. This app enables citizens and residents to engage in local decision-making by providing feedback, evaluations and suggestions, thereby fostering communication, transparency and trust.

Zaher al Sabari, Assistant Director at the ministry, noted that the ‘Tanmia’ app, available on all major smartphone platforms, boasts a user-friendly design and high security. It supports various user roles, including governors, municipal council members, Ministry employees and tourists. Through ‘Tanmia’, citizens can submit development proposals, add and view tourist sites, address issues like illegal possessions, and monitor various projects and events across Oman.

The app also allows for the evaluation of municipal council members and their proposals, fostering interactive communication among all stakeholders.

The Ministry of Interior is committed to introducing modern technologies to enhance its digital transformation efforts. Its participation in COMEX 2024 aims to spotlight technical advancements, introduce new electronic services and application updates, and encourage community involvement through feedback and suggestions. This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s goal of continuous improvement and development of its digital systems.
