MUSCAT: ISC MKW beat OCA Women’s A by 6 wickets in the Finals of the Oman Cricket Women’s Summer League 2024. ISC MKW have displayed sheer dominance across both OC Women’s League Season 2023-24 and the OC Women’s Summer League 2024 with accumulated consecutive 11 out of 11 wins.
OCA Women’s A were bundled to 85 in 17.1 overs opting to bat first. Sameera Khan scored 34 of 29 while Hina Javed scored 26 of 28. Amanda D’Costa picked 4 wickets while Pratima B scalped 2 wickets. Priyanka Mendonca and Merita Pinto picked a wicket each. In response, Trupti Pawde gave ISC a start scoring 24 of 33 and Priyanka Mendonca’s 35 of 28 finished the innings in joy for ISC as they chased down the target with 6 wickets in hand and 26 balls to spare. Fiza Javed, Hina Javed and Sameera Khan picked up a wicket each.
Oman Cricket witnessed a participation of 8 teams in the league this season through in continuation to its Cricket4Her – Women’s Cricket Development Programme. The teams were divided in two groups wherein ISC MKW topped Group A winning 3 out of 3 matches while OCA Women’s A won 3 out of 3 matches in Group B. ISWK Women’s and OCA Women’s C were the other teams qualified for the Semi Finals but lost to the finalists.
In the closing ceremony, Paul Sheridan – Vice Chairman and Women’s Cricket Committee Member, Oman Cricket presented the awards. The player of the match for the final was handed to ISC MKW’s Priyanka Mendonsa for her all-round performance picking a wicket and scoring 35 runs. The league accolades adjudged were - Best Batter : Fiza Javed of OCA Women’s A scoring 279 runs in 5 innings with 2 hundreds and 1 fifty, Best Bowler : Amanda Dcosta picking 13 wickets in 5 matches and the Player of the Tournament was Fiza Javed for displaying exemplary performance with the bat throughout the League. Brief Scores: OCA Women’s A 85/10 in 17.1 overs (Sameera Khan 34(29); Amanda Dcosta 4/14) lost to ISC MKW 86/4 in 15.4 overs (Priyanka Mendonca 35(28); Fiza Javed 1/10) by 6 wickets.
