Students, parents briefed on vocational colleges, specializations

Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation (MOHERI), represented by the Directorate General of Vocational Training recently organized a seminar to introduce vocational colleges and their specializations for General Education Diploma (GED) students, parents, and vocational guidance supervisors.


The seminar was organized online to introduce vocational colleges situated in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.


Ahmed bin Salem Al Jabri, Head of the Student and Trainee Affairs Department at the Directorate General of Vocational Training, gave a visual presentation on programs offered in vocational colleges, which are divided into four levels, targeting students in the tenth and eleventh grades, respectively.


The visual presentation included confirmation that these levels are included in the National Qualifications Framework issued and supervised by the Omani Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education.


Dr. Ruqaya bint Humaid Al Wahaibiyah also presented a lecture at the Vocational College in Saham and spoke about the educational environment in vocational colleges. The presentation included many aspects related to the educational environment in vocational colleges, the services provided in them, and their role in raising a distinguished generation of professionals who contribute to advancing progress and building in various fields.


The ministry is working to develop the educational and training system by aligning it with the labor market and its needs, achieving its future vision, and building educational standards to draw a clear direction that links training with the needs of the labor market, in addition to achieving strategic vocational training goals through the development of various vocational training paths, fields, and specializations that keep pace with competitiveness and global requirements to support the knowledge economy and sustainable development goals.
