DOHA: Represented by the Ministry of Information, the Sultanate of Oman took part on Thursday in the 27th GCC Information Ministers meeting held in Doha, Qatar.

Oman’s delegation in the meeting was headed by Dr Abdullah bin Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information.

The ministers discussed issues of significance to the joint GCC media action across various channels, including the radio, television, electronic media and news agencies. The meeting also dealt with GCC countries’ proposals and initiatives on developing media coverage.

The ministers looked into reports filed by two GCC institutions: One by the GCC’s Joint Programme Production Institution (JPPI) and the other by Gulf Radio and Television Corporation.

During the meeting, the ministers approved a number of proposals and initiatives presented by the Sultanate of Oman, including a Media Awareness Plan (that elaborates on ways to protect morals, encourage socialization and instill Gulf values and identity), in addition to an Omani proposal on devising a “digital initiative for children in GCC states” and a study on radio and television programmes that aim at forecasting Joint media messages. - ONA
