

MUSCAT: The American Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) launched its newest division - the ASNT Oman Division – with an opening ceremony held yesterday at the Intercity Hotel in Muscat, marking an important milestone in the non-destructive testing (NDT) industry in the Sultanate of Oman.
“The establishment of ASNT Oman is an important milestone for the growth and advancement of non-destructive testing practices in our country’s industries, and ASNT’s global standards, certification programmes and knowledge resources are a significant milestone,” said Abdul Aziz al Sakiti, Head of ASNT Oman Section.
“They are invaluable tools that will support Omani professionals and companies in the field of non-testing in ensuring the safety and integrity of infrastructure, equipment and critical components, and with ASNT here through this new division, we can better promote non-testing education, and facilitate the exchange of Knowledge, support and global quality,” he stated.
For his part, Dr Talal al Nabhani welcomed the launch of the ASNT Oman section as a keenly awaited that will help bring all professionals working in the field of integrity and inspection under one umbrella.
Dr Al-Nabhani stressed that the expectations set for the ASNT Oman branch are high. The new branch has already begun organising seminars, conferences, technical courses, and other initiatives, underscoring its role as a reliable partner in technology development and sharing.
Mohammad Aburov, Regional Director of ASNT Region 19, added that the Oman section is not just a gathering of professionals, but a community united by a shared passion for pushing the boundaries of non-destructive testing and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. ASNT Oman plans to achieve this through the dedication of its members and focus on continuous improvement, he said. ASNT Region 19 includes Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq, India, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
ASNT Oman member Nishant Singh noted in the visual presentation that they are committed to empowering inspections in the Sultanate of Oman by leveraging the latest technologies to enhance safety and efficiency in the energy sector, by introducing advanced robotics and artificial intelligence. By eliminating the need for inspectors to enter hazardous environments, lives can potentially be saved, he noted, adding that the technologies also reduce downtime, risks and costs, thereby significantly improving safety and return on investment.
