MUSCAT, MAY 14
Takatuf Oman hosted the Recognition Ceremony for Cohort 2023 of the Ruwad Oman Enrichment Programme on May 13, spotlighting the dedication of 110 Takatuf Scholars in their educational and personal development journeys.
The ceremony, held under the auspices of Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, was a lively celebration of achievement and potential, bringing together scholars from eight governorates across Oman.
The Enrichment Programme, the initial phase of the comprehensive Ruwad Oman programme, spans 14 months and includes a Summer Residential Programme, an Individual Learning Phase, and a concluding Winter Workshop. Throughout this period, 11th-grade candidates develop critical 21st-century skills such as time management, leadership, critical thinking, and collaboration. This transformative experience culminates in the development of not only academic prowess but also professional acumen and personal passion.
Highlighting the evening were inspirational stories from current international scholars and alumni, such as Al Julanda al Abri, a McGill University graduate who is now flourishing in his career at Amazon in London, and Sara al Lawati, a current student at the University of Texas at Austin, who has secured a prestigious internship at Chevron for the second consecutive year. Atheer al Hinai shared insights from her ongoing master’s studies of Environmental Technology at Imperial College London, and Rashid al Abri, currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at Columbia University, who discussed his contributions to notable publications in Nature magazine.
40 of the 110 scholars received the International Scholarship, a prestigious recognition that offers them an opportunity to continue their studies abroad—two years at an international boarding school followed by four years at a globally ranked university. This opportunity for the cohort is made possible by the support of the programme’s sponsors, OQ and Estidamah, whose commitment is instrumental in sponsoring the education and development of these 40 scholars. The 110 scholars now join the Alumni Network of over 600 members.
