MUSCAT, MAY 9

Sohar defeated Al Shabab 3-1 concluding the 20th round of the Omantel Football League at the Sohar Sports Complex on Wednesday.

In the first half, Sohar dominated the ball with a clear dedication to organising attacks. In the 19th minute, Brazilian player Alexander De Stefano scored the first goal for Sohar with a well-placed header from a pass from his team-mate Abdulmajeed al Marzouqi.

On the other hand, Al Shabab put in a good performance despite being behind in the score, as they were trying to score and create chances on Sohar's goal. But luck was not on their side, and the half ended with Sohar leading Al Shabab 1-0.

In the second half, Sohar tried to extend their lead with continuous attacks, while Al Shabab were striving to equalise. Despite Sohar's defensive solidarity, Al Shabab managed to equalise in the 49th minute through Brazilian player Emerson Silva. But their joy was short-lived.

In the 75th minute, Sohar regained the lead thanks to a goal scored by De Stefano from a brilliant pass by Mohsin Jawhar. Sohar did not stop at this goal, but in the fifth minute of added time, Darwish al Saadi succeeded in scoring the third goal for his team, confirming their victory by a score of 3-1.

With this victory, Sohar raised their score to 33 points and snatched third place from Oman Club on goal difference, while Al Shabab's tally remained at 23 points, occupying ninth place.

SUR EDGE IBRI

At the Sur Sports Complex, Sur defeated Ibri 2-1.

In the first half, the teams started with a strong and balanced performance, as the ball moved quickly between the two teams' areas, amidst mutual attempts to score. There were many scoring opportunities for both teams, but rushing to shoot or inaccuracy in passing prevented goals from being scored. As the half progressed, the competition intensified, with Ibri relying on counter-attacks and crosses, while Sur tried to penetrate from the depth and direct attacks towards the goal.

In the 40th minute, Ibri benefited from an accurate pass from Emmanuel Mahoub who shot it into the net to open the scoring.

The first half ended with Ibri leading by one goal.

The beginning of the second half saw a continuation of the attacks from the two teams, as Ibri sought to extend their lead, while Sur's ambitions were towards a draw and then victory.

In the 58th minute, Robert Jansa succeeded in scoring the equaliser for Sur after a skillful move inside the penalty area and a successful shot to the left of the goalkeeper. The exchange of opportunities between the two teams continued, and in stoppage time, Mohammed Nasser added the second goal for Sur after a powerful shot from inside the penalty area, which made an exciting 2-1 victory for Sur.

Thus, Sur raised their score to 24 points, jumping to seventh place, while Ibri's score remained the same, but were dropped from seventh to eighth place on goal difference.
