Oman’s 36 entities are taking part in the 31st edition of the Arabian Travel Market held under the theme “Empowering Innovation to Transform Travel through Entrepreneurship” in Dubai. The expo will conclude today (Thursday).

Arabian Travel Market 2024 seeks to leverage innovation to help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by building a more sustainable travel and tourism sector.

Among the most prominent goals of the Sultanate of Oman’s participation this year is to tie up promotional partnerships with international tourism companies and institutions. It also aims to promote the Khareef Dhofar season, and to highlight Sur as the Arab Tourism Capital 2024, and introducing the Omani food and culinary arts tourism programme.

Haitham bin Mohammed al Ghassani, Director-General of Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, mentioned that the Sultanate of Oman’s participation in the exhibition aims to establish new relationships and exchange knowledge and experiences, noting that the Middle East region has, over the past years, strengthened its position as a global tourist attraction through continued investment in developing tourism infrastructure and driving economic diversification.

The exhibition is an ideal environment to promote tourism in Oman.

The tourism sector in the Sultanate of Oman is witnessing steady growth. The contribution of the tourism sector to the gross domestic product reached 2.4 per cent by the end of 2022. The number of tourists in 2023 reached about 4 million, an increase of 36.7 per cent compared to 2022.
