Yogathon at NBO premises in Athaiba on Friday

As many as 125 people will compete in the Open National Level Yoga Championship at the NBO head office premises in Athaiba on Friday.


Organised by the Champ Sports and Arts in association with Yog Sports Foundation, the half day event is open to all. The last date for registration is Thursday. There will be an entry fee of RO 5.


Neha Deshmukh, HoD of Yoga and chief organiser at the Champ Sports and Arts, said that anyone who has a passion for yoga can contest and show their mettle.


"As far as we know, this level of yoga championship is happening for the first time in Oman and anyone can join as a participant. We will have judges from India and the chief guest from Vietnam," she said.


Participants will be judged based on their ease of performing various poses and they will be evaluated as per the asanas chosen by them. A participant can choose any 5 asanas out of 10. There will be an entry fee of RO 5.


Winners will receive medals and certificates of participation and trophies. Those who reach 1st and 2nd places in each category will compete for the Champion of Champions Trophy to be held soon.
