MUSCAT, MAY 6
The Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX), in partnership with Crowe Oman, will conduct a collaborative two-day workshop on MSX – ESG 30 Metrics. The programme will be held on May 7 - 8 at the Novotel Hotel.
This timely workshop has been designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the evolving landscape of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting. Launched in September 2023, the MSX guidelines mandate Sustainability Reporting for SAOG companies, with voluntary disclosure encouraged in 2024 and mandatory compliance by March 2025.
The workshop caters to participants seeking to bridge the gap between their existing ESG knowledge and the practical application of reporting on their company's sustainability performance. The workshop agenda delves into overcoming challenges associated with ESG reporting, including greenhouse gas (GHG) emission identification and calculation.
Carefully designed to align with the latest International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Standards (S1 and S2) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, the workshop provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of ESG reporting best practices.
Delivery will be from seasoned ESG professionals from Crowe Oman and Crowe Spain (one of the leading ESG services providers in Europe, with close ties to the EU Standards setting bodies) with proven experience in the field.
Participants will benefit from first hand insights and practical guidance on implementing effective ESG reporting strategies. The workshop will also feature introductory remarks from the CEO of the MSX, underscoring the importance of ESG reporting within the Omani market, in alignment with the net zero emissions ambition of Oman’s Vision 2040.
Participants will leave equipped with a range of valuable skills, including understanding the IFRS and GRI standards for sustainability reporting; navigating the ESG disclosure requirements of the MSX; measuring and reporting on environmental, social, and governance performance indicators; and communicating their company's sustainability journey and alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
