Dhofar, some parts of northern governorates receive impact of air trough

Muscat: Al Mazyouna, Dhofar Governorate, and Al Buraimi enjoyed rain of varying intensity today morning.


Oman Met Office reported formation and flow of rainy thunderstorm cells on the coasts and desert of Dhofar with rainfall of varying intensity.


Cumulus rain clouds flowed over parts of the governorates of Al Buraimi, Al Dahirah, Musandam, North Al-Batinah, parts of South Al-Batinah and Muscat.


The midday temperature is to help Al Hajar Mountains develop further clouds, which according to Oman Met Office Meteorologists are expected to enhance the impact of the trough of low pressure.


The aerial image of Oman Met Office indicated the continued flow of high and medium-height clouds over most of the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, with the formation and flow of cumulonimbus thunderstorms accompanied by moderately heavy rain over the governorates of Musandam, Al Dhahirah, and Dhofar.


Clouds are expected to continue to form and renew during the coming hours over the rest of the governorates


Wind gusts were experienced last night.


Cloudy to partly cloudy skies over most of the governorates is expected to bring in chances of convective cloud development and thundershowers associated with downdraft and hail during the afternoon and evening over Al Hajar mountains and adjoining areas and over Dhofar governorate.


This weather condition includes chances for cloud advection and formation with chances for thunder shower over the coastal and mountainous regions of Dhofar Governorate as well.


The forecast also indicates late night to early morning low clouds or fog patches over the Arabian Sea coastal areas


The Met Office has also alerted on the possibility for dust raising in deserts and open areas, in addition to horizontal visibility reduction during rain, dust raising and fog formation.


Sea waves are expected to rise on the coasts of Musandam Governorate, the coasts of the Sea of ​​Oman, and parts of the coasts of the Arabian Sea today as the waves could reach up to 2 to 3 meters.
