Wadi Dayqah, which is about 18 km away from the Wilayat of Qurayat, is full after heavy rains. To see the spectacular flow of water, families and groups of individuals are flocking to the dam premises.

The dam is considered an extension of the valleys of Al Sharqiyah North Governorate. It can store 100 million cubic metres. It is 75 metres high and 40 metres long.

The dam waters flow through many villages like Al Mazara, Hail Al Ghaf and Daghmar. The distance travelled by this water is estimated at about 20 km. This water feeds all wells and aflaj for which the Wilayat of Qurayat is famous.

“This is my favourite destination. I make sure to visit this site after the rain. The site is characterised by its abundance of water. I also go hiking with my family in the mountains adjacent to this valley. I expect the number of tourists to increase during the coming period, especially since this site has been developed and provides recreational activities such as kayaking in the wide lake," an Omani from Muscat told the Observer.

This site contains many archaeological and geological features. On the tops of the hills there are examples of some ancient walls and tombs dating back thousands of years. One of the most important of these historical landmarks is the Farmer’s Fort, which is located on the southern mountaintops of the village. There is also Al Jazer Tower, which was used for defensive purposes to protect the village from any military raid. There are also many ancient archaeological aflaj in the village, some of which date back to the pre-Islamic era, the most famous of which are Al Seeh falaj and Al Ghubaira falaj.
