More than 3,000 candies with immoral pictures were seized in Nizwa, which is a clear violation of the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations.

During inspection visits to stores and commercial centers in Nizwa, judicial officers confiscated more than 3,571 items and action was taken.

Ta'i bin Salim al Junaibi, Director of the Consumer Protection Authority in Al Dakhiliya, said when asked the owner of the establishment about the reason for doing this, he explained that it was because he did not know that it was banned. Shops should ensure that the goods conform to the specifications and standards before offering them for sale.

The Authority makes an effort to follow up and monitor the markets and is keen to take all legal measures against violators. It also calls on consumers to report any violations they may notice, through various communication channels. To ensure protection of consumer rights, the Authority monitors the stability of markets and ensures the transparency of information provided to consumers. It also works to prevent any illegal or immoral practices, encourage fair practices in the market, ensure the availability of goods, and monitor the extent of shops and commercial centers’ compliance with the Consumer Protection Law.

The Authority also developed a deliberate and systematic work plan to implement oversight efforts in an intensive and comprehensive manner. It included inspection campaigns through the formation of field work teams that include judicial police officers and shop inspectors, and setting a clear work schedule for these teams to follow up on the markets in an integrated manner.
