Muscat Municipality, in collaboration with the Muscat Governorate and Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel, has unveiled an extraordinary business venture in the heart of Muscat - Al Khuwair Square. This groundbreaking project not only features Oman's tallest flagpole but also encompasses a wide range of recreational amenities, making it a sanctuary for leisure and outdoor sports enthusiasts.

The project, spanning an impressive area of 18,000 square meters, is a testament to the fruitful collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Muscat Municipality, represented by the Muscat Governorate, and Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel, a leading iron and steel producer in the region, have joined forces to bring this visionary project to life.

The unveiling was attended by Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, along with Ahmed bin Mohammed al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, and Harssha Shetty, CEO of Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel.

Al Khuwair Square's centerpiece is the Sultanate of Oman's tallest flagpole, standing at a towering height of 126 metres.

This remarkable man-made structure surpasses the height of a 40-story building and is constructed from 135 tonnes of steel. Adorning the pole is the majestic Omani flag, measuring 18 meters in length and 31.5 meters in width. The flagpole itself boasts an outer diameter of 2,800mm at its base and 900mm at the top, equipped with a warning light system for aircraft.

The square is not just about the flagpole; it offers a plethora of recreational amenities. Lush green areas, Omani palm trees, walking and cycling paths, an outdoor arts and crafts exhibition, a skate park, and designated areas for sports activities create an inviting atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. Additionally, public amenities such as restrooms and a parking lot with 107 spaces ensure convenience and accessibility.
