MUSCAT: The total local production and import of natural gas in the Sultanate of Oman amounted to 8.387 billion cubic metres by the end of February 2024, a decrease of 2 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year when the total was 8.556 billion cubic metres.
Statistics show that industrial projects accounted for 68.2 per cent of the usage of natural gas in the Sultanate of Oman by the end of February 2024, with industrial projects using 5.722 billion cubic metres.
The total usage of natural gas for oil fields was 1.523 billion cubic metres, for power generation stations was 1.098 billion cubic metres, and for industrial areas was 43.600 million cubic metres. It is worth mentioning that the non-associated natural gas production, including imports, amounted to 6.717 billion cubic metres, while the associated production was 1.670 billion cubic metres. —ONA
