ADAM, APRIL 18

The exhibition 'Eye on Adam's Antiquities' opened on Thursday under the auspices of Shaikh Sultan bin Hilal bin Hamdan al Alawi, Deputy Wali of Adam, in a multipurpose hall at the Wali's office, in conjunction with World Heritage Day.

The exhibition this year, having the title 'Discover and Experience Diversity' that will continue until April 25, aims to highlight the cultural and historical aspects and introduce the local community and those interested in antiquities to the archaeological discoveries that were found from the excavations carried out by the ministry in cooperation with foreign archaeological missions.

The exhibition showcases a variety of archaeological findings from three sites in the wilayat, including the Al Midmar site dating back to the Iron Age. These findings comprise bronze weapons, arrowheads, daggers and axes.

In addition, there is the memorial, which contains rock drawings representing a man and a woman practicing religious rituals. It was discovered at the Ras al Jabal site.

Another exhibit is the archaeological site of the castle that contains ancient graves dating back to the early Bronze Age and late Iron Age.

On the sidelines of the workshop, there will be a scientific workshop for specialists and those interested in antiquities at the heritage and tourism administration building in Nizwa on Sunday, highlighting the cultural heritage law through a number of scientific working papers.

The programme will also include a tour of the archaeological sites of Bisyah and Salut on Monday to learn about the archeological sites, their importance, and to consolidate the information that the participants gained from the workshop, as this is a practical opportunity to learn about the importance of archaeological evidence in the governorate.
