Muscat: Muscat International Airport, managed by Oman Airports, received several flights diverted from neighbouring airports, including Dubai, which were affected by the extreme weather conditions as per the international protocols followed in emergencies.

Dubai International Airport temporarily diverted all inbound flights on Tuesday while departures were operated as scheduled, but it urged people not to come to the airport, unless necessary. Flights continue to be delayed and diverted," the announcement said.

The airline suspended check-in passengers departing from Dubai until 8 pm on Wednesday. A flydubai spokesperson said that the severe weather conditions have resulted in significant disruption to the airline's operations at Dubai International (DXB).

“Many flydubai flights have been cancelled or experienced extensive delays.” Sharjah-based carrier Air Arabia's flights too were cancelled or rescheduled, the airline confirmed in a statement.

"Affected passengers are being notified of their flight changes and passengers are requested to visit the Air Arabia website or contact dedicated call centre for the latest update on their flight status," an airline spokesperson said.

The airline said it is working diligently to minimise the impact of the disruption caused by the weather conditions. "We reassure you that the safety and well-being of our passengers and crew remain our top priority," the spokesperson added.

Heavy rains and flooding persisted throughout Tuesday across the UAE, leading to disruptions at all major airports in the country.

All inbound flights to Dubai International Airport have been diverted to 'nearby airports' until the inclement weather situation improves.
