MUSCAT: The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has selected the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Oman Basketball Association (OBA), to implement the girls' basketball project under the slogan "Her World Her Rules" as part of the projects adopted by the international federation.

The OBA succeeded in joining this project within the framework of its interest in women's sports and promoting sports among girls by creating a package of programs that contribute to the advancement of girls' basketball.

Hiba Saeed al Naabi, Member of the Board of Directors of the OBA and Chairwoman of the Women's Committee at the Association, said: "The girls' basketball project "Her World Her Rules" is one of the most famous initiatives of the International Basketball Federation in girls' basketball. The project aims to spread the game of basketball among women and girls and thus increase the base of practitioners of the game through various activities that are implemented in partnership with national federations. The Sultanate of Oman has been chosen as one of the destinations for implementing the project and the media marketing campaign for this global initiative for the year 2024."

" The program targets school girls aged between 6-15 years and also mothers who will support these girls to complete their journey in the world of basketball. The family and guardian are the first supporters and foundation for female players to continue practicing basketball. She explained that the project came to overcome the difficulties and challenges facing the spread of the game among girls, including the lack of a local league at the school or club level for girls, making it difficult to practice the game, in addition to the lack of local and international competitions and participations." She added

The OBA will implement four festivals for girls within the framework of its approved plan to implement the project, starting in May and continuing until November 2024. The target is to reach 300 girls during program period from the project campaign.
