The first day of Eid al Fitr was celebrated with mass prayers across Oman on Wednesday.

Citizens and residents of Oman after completing 29 days of fasting during the holy month of Ramadhan were in an elated mood as they gathered at the Eid Garh and mosques for special Eid prayers.

Various locations along with mosques were well prepared for special Eid prayers, which were held from 6.30 am. Children received sweets and Eidia while elders exchanged Eid wishes with each other embracing each other.

"Eid is a celebration and opportunity for strengthening social and cultural bond as well as strengthening the family bond by exchange of gifts and introducing the children to traditional culture," said Shaikh Abdulrahman, Imam of Al Falah mosque.

"Eid day is a day to cheer and to laugh with all your heart and it is a day to be grateful to Almighty Allah for all of His heavenly blessings on us. Muslims have two Eid days in a year and both teach us of unity and love, the act of sharing what we have with others as this day symbolises virtues like patience, piety, godliness and fortitude," he said.

Chaand Raat Chand Raat indicates the previous night of the Eid day. The Pakistani community in Muscat came together in a joyous celebration of Chand Raat at Pakistan School Muscat.

The event drew a large number of families from the Pakistani community, creating an atmosphere of festivity and togetherness. Imran Ali, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Oman, was the chief guest, adding prestige to the festivities.

The event was filled with entertainment for all age groups, with children enjoying activities such as a bouncy castle, free popcorn, face painting, braiding, musical chairs, ball on spoon, pass the box, and picking pencils. For the women, there were engaging competitions like fashion shows and Mehndi competitions.

The audience also savoured delicious free Halwa Puri and biryani, adding to the festive ambience.
