A noble initiative was repeated this year by distributing new clothes to workers who could not afford to buy new clothes for Eid initiated by social welfare worker Syed Shaandar Ali Shah Bukhari last year.
Shaandar Bukhari said, "After our two food distribution drives this year in Ramadhan, I discussed with Mohammed Shah Shirani to conduct new dresses drive for the underprivileged and he showed interest and told me that he was also intending to repeat last year's drive and upon discussing the mechanics for this year he proposed that we should reach out to far flung areas from where the workers don't have daily commute to the city and are deserving candidates for this drive."
"So we chalked out a map of 100 kilometres around Al Buraimi Governorate en route Mahadha towards Kahl sands and mountainous areas of Al Heil where there are a lot of farms and then to Al Rawdha area," he added.
This campaign was completed in three days. "Later a good Samaritan friend of Shirani gave us boxes of new sandals to be distributed which was also included in our campaign," he added.
Shirani, a philanthropist from Al Buraimi, said, "We looped in community members to arrange for funds and successfully managed to get 141 new dresses at a price of RO 5 per piece. These clothe materials were both stitched and unstitched."
