Sur was Oman's hottest place in March, Salalah getting hotter

Muscat: Oman Meteorology has reported that the Wilayat of Sur recorded the highest temperature at 38 degrees Celsius in March this year, followed by the wilayats of Al Mazyouna, Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan and Dima W'attayeen.


Oman Meteorology added that some weather monitoring stations recorded temperatures higher than the average daily temperature for March 2024.


It was noted that the Wilayat of Salalah also saw an increase of 1.6 degrees Celsius, Masirah by 0.8 degrees Celsius, and Thamrait by 0.6 degrees Celsius.


At the same time, Wilayat of Sur saw a drop in temperature by 0.2 degrees Celsius.


The lowest temperature was recorded in Jabal Shams at 8.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Saiq in the Wilayat of Yanqul and the Wilayat of Haima.


The Wilayat of Saham saw a variation of decline and increase by one degree Celsius during the same period.


The Wilayat of Adam recorded the highest amount of rainfall with 114.4 mm, the Hamra al Duru with 81.2 mm, the Wilayat of Masirah Island with 72 mm, the Wilayat of Al Buraimi 71.4 mm and the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi 68 mm.


The highest daily rainfall recorded in thirty years was at Masirah Island station on March 6, 2024, with an amount of 57 mm.
