Muscat - The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) has issued decision 120/2024, stipulating that the Gulf standard specifications will be biding on vehicles, motorcycles, and their tires.

This decision will ensure the compatibility of vehicles with the latest applicable standards, which contain the latest safety standards to protect consumers from risks, specific quality standards to ensure their performance and sustainability, and specific environmental protection standards to reduce their impact on the environment.

The specifications also require new vehicles to have a fuel consumption label sticker, which will help the consumer to compare the fuel consumption efficiency of different cars and choose a car that meets his needs in terms of fuel efficiency.

MOCIIP stressed that the importance of standard specifications lies in advancing local production to global levels by increasing its competitiveness besides protecting the health and safety of the consumer and the environment, reducing waste, raising the economics of the industry, and supporting the national industry and developing exports to raise the level of quality.
