MoE follows up on application of vocational and technical education

Muscat: Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Education Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Education, stressed the importance of introducing the vocational training diploma in the academic year 2023-2024 by targeting 200 grade 10 students in the governorates of Muscat and North Al Batinah.


The under-secretary made his remarks during his visit to the schools applying the business management and information technology disciplines namely Hafs Bin Rashid Boys Schools, Nusaiba bin Kaab Girls Schools and Haleema al Saadiyah Girls Schools in Muscat Governorate, on Tuesday.


The undersecretary commended the efforts undertaken by the schools administrations, the students’ positive interaction and their acceptance of the two subjects. He praised the staffs’ commitment to instill knowledge and sciences in the students especially when it comes to new fields that are being applied for the first time as a first batch before introducing other specializations in accordance to a phased methodological plan.



During the visit in which he was accompanied by Dr Ali bin Humaid al Jahwari, Director-General of Education in Muscat Governorate, he met a number of educational officials, members of the Assistant Committee for Vocational and Technical Education in Directorate of Education of Muscat Governorate as well as the officials entrusted with the implementation of the vocational and technical education for business management and information technology majors. He listened to an elaborate explanation of the progress of the work plan and inspected the mechanism of applying the two subjects by attending some classes.


The Directorate-General of Education in Muscat Governorate recently held an introductory meeting with school principals and vocational guidance specialists in the five schools applying the technical and vocational education plan for engineering and industrial specializations in the governorate to clarify the vocational and technical education plan which will be included next year in accordance to a plan devised by the Ministry for select schools to introduce six engineering and industrial specializations namely engineering maintenance, mechanical manufacturing engineering, maintenance of solid structures, lifting and unloading operations, welding and metal forming.
