Oman junior teams set for busy schedule in April, May

MUSCAT: The Oman national teams including under-19 and under-17 will have busy schedule of external assignments and preparation sessions including domestic and external camps after the Eid Al Fitr break.


It is expected that Oman under-19 team will report back to the training in mid of April. The team will commence with the domestic camp in Muscat and may have some international preparatory matches according to a source in OFA as they are finalising with many associations and awaiting for the final confirmations. Moreover, the team will have an external camp in May ahead of their participation in West Asian Championship which will be held in Saudi Arabia in June. Then, the team will take part in the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers in September 2024, while the finals of 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup is scheduled to take place in February 2025.

The team recently concluded an abroad camp in Kuwait and it had featured two games against the hosts Kuwait. Both games ended with victory for Oman as the first match finished at 3-1 while the following game concluded at 1-0. The ‘Red Warriors’ goals were netted in the opening game by Masoud al Bahri, Fahad al Mukhaini and Al Hussain al Qasmi, while Al Qasmi scored the only goal in the second match.


The national under-17 team is under way in a domestic camp for few days ahead of their external participation in the first edition of GCC Gulf Youth Games which will be hosted in UAE during April 16 to May 2. The team will travel to UAE on April 14 to commence their participation on April 16.


The training sessions will provide a proper technical environment for the junior national teams to raise their readiness ahead of the crucial assignments. The national teams are all set to show positive participations in the upcoming events and to have better exposure in the next tournaments.
