MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MoTCIT) and Muscat University signed yesterday a programme for cooperation in the fields of training, consultation and joint research in the transport, logistics, operations and supply chain management sectors.

The cooperation aims to strengthen the vital sectors of transport and logistics in the Sultanate of Oman by improving infrastructure, raising the efficiency of logistics services, enhancing technology and innovation, developing employee capabilities and achieving research and development progress.

Eng Khamis bin Mohammed al Shamakhi, Under-Secretary for Transport at MoTCIT, explained that such programmes will strengthen the principle of partnership between government and academic institutions in order to reach common goals in achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

For his part, Professor Dr Khamis bin Hamad al Yahyai, President of Muscat University, said: The cooperation programme that was signed is the first cooperation programme with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
