Oman U19 defeat Kuwait 3-1 in friendly

MUSCAT: The Oman Under-19 football team beat the hosts Kuwait 3-1 in the first friendly game late on Saturday, at Al Shabab Stadium as part of the current team’s overseas camp in Kuwait.


The ‘Red Warriors’ goals were netted by Masoud al Bahri, Fahad al Mukhaini and Al Hussain al Qasmi, while the only goal of Kuwait team scored by Abdullah Faris.


The underway external warm up camp, which is under the watchful eyes of the national experienced coach Ahmed al Alawi, is part of the team’s preparations for the forthcoming participation including: West Asian Championship which will be held in Saudi Arabia in the middle of the current year. Then, the team will take part in the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers in September 2024, while the finals of 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup is scheduled to take place in February 2025.

Despite Kuwait’s leading in the first half by 1-0, Oman boys registered a strong came back in the second half as they registered three goals to seal the victory. The match was crucial for the team players to raise the harmony among them and to enter into the official matches mood ahead of upcoming events. Oman team will conclude the current abroad camp with a another preparatory game against Kuwait, which will take place on Monday.

Coach Ahmed al Alawi worked out to maximise the output of the friendly fixture as he tested different faces during the game. It is expected that the second match will have some changes in the starting line up of the match as some of the players did not play and these faces will get the chance to compete in today’s game. Then, it will be great opportunity for the coaching staff to do a proper evaluation on the players technical capabilities and began to put some insights on the team’s starting line up.
