MUSCAT: In an exciting development for eSports and football fans across the GCC region, TOD, the premier sports and entertainment streaming platform in the MENA region, is thrilled to announce its collaboration with the Bundesliga for the Virtual Bundesliga International Series 2024 during Ramadhan.

Organised by Zawaya Gaming, the tournament is open for citizens and residents of Bahrain, Kuwait, KSA, Oman, Qatar, and UAE kicking off with online qualifiers taking place on March 22, 23.

The top eight players from the Gulf region will participate in a mini-tournament live-streamed by TOD on March 24.

The winner of the virtual competition will win an all-expenses paid trip to Germany, to attend the 2024 International Series Grand Final in May, and compete for a share of the €10,000 prize pool. They will be accompanied by a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) and compete alongside other global qualifiers from the USA, Brazil, Thailand, Vietnam, and India.

This initiative aims to bring the spirit of the Bundesliga closer to its fans in the GCC region, fostering a sense of community and engagement during Ramadhan.

John-Paul Mckerlie, Vice-President of Marketing & Sales at TOD, says, “This collaboration with the Bundesliga is a fantastic way to connect with our grassroots fans. eSports is growing in the GCC like never before, and given its prominence during Ramadhan, it is a great way for TOD to build community spirit among players of the game.”

Peer Naubert, Bundesliga International Chief Marketing Officer, says, “Since 2012, when the Bundesliga became the first professional football league to have its own eSports competition, more than a million players have competed across our virtual tournaments — from the Club Championship and the VBL Open, to the Virtual Bundesliga International Series. Global interest continues to grow, and our partnership with EA Sports has gone from strength to strength, as indicated by the contract extension announced earlier this month.”

Interested candidates can register for the online esports competition at todvbl.com for more details and tournament terms and conditions.
