New York: Dr Mohammed bin Awad al Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, met with Alice Nderitu, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide at the headquarters of the Sultanate of Oman’s permanent mission to the United Nations in New York.
The meeting touched on the situation in the Gaza Strip and the Israeli continued attacks on the Palestinian people which amount to violations of international humanitarian law, collective punishment, war crimes and genocide.
Ms Nderitu appreciated the stance adopted by the Sultanate of Oman which stems from the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik in support of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to live in security and dignity on their land as well as their right to establish a Palestinian state on the basis of the two-state solution and the international resolutions and references in this regard.
