Project to enhance value-added of rose in Al Jabal Al Akhdhar

AL JABAL AL AKHDHAR: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources embarked on a project that aims at enhancing the value-added of rose harvest in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.


The project is financed by the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund at a cost of RO 150,000 and lasts for two years.

The project aims to prepare a study to provide primary data on rose cultivation and related industries in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar in partnership with small and medium enterprises specializing in rose-related industries in Al Jabal Al Akhdhar. The project also aims to support the cultivation of an additional 5 acres of local roses in Al Jabal Al Akhdhar as well as supporting and introducing agricultural machinery and improving some agricultural operations by 50 per cent, and training and qualification of 15 beneficiaries in the field of rose water industry.

Hanan bint Said al Sulaimiyah, Executive Director of the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund, said that the project is aimed at introducing agricultural mechanization and improving some agricultural operations by 50 per cent to develop rose cultivation in Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, supporting farmers with small manual tillers and other machines that are suitable for the Al Jabal Al Akhdar environment and terrain.


The Department of Agricultural and Water Resources in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, will determine the type of mechanization to be introduced by selecting the best and most cooperative among the beneficiaries and provide them with the machines. — ONA
