MUSCAT: Mamun, an embedded finance and payments startup headquartered in Muscat, has successfully concluded the Sultanate of Oman’s first equity crowdfunding campaign in collaboration with Zameeli, a homegrown tech startup connecting Omani freelancers with SMEs.

This achievement not only highlights the potential for expanding investment avenues in Oman but also signifies a growing interest in the tech sector within the country. It has propelled Zameeli to new heights while diversifying its investor base. Initially supported by the Oman Technology Fund (OTF), Zameeli has now broadened its investor base through Mamun, indicating the startup's appeal and Mamun's ability to unlock investment opportunities.

With a substantial user base including notable organisations like Omran and the Ministry of Information, alongside a growing network of Omani freelancers, Zameeli serves as a testament to the evolving tech landscape in Oman and the opportunities it presents for local businesses.

The successful collaboration between Mamun and Zameeli sets the stage for the launch of Mamun’s secondary market, which is expected to further enhance participation in Oman's financial ecosystem and stimulate innovation in the tech sector.

Mohammed al Tamami, COO of Mamun, commented, "The successful conclusion of our secondary market signifies a step towards fostering an ecosystem of investment and trust within Oman. Beyond facilitating transactions, our goal is to promote financial empowerment and tap into the exceptional talent within our region. Zameeli's equity crowdfunding campaign through Mamun reflects our commitment to strengthening the local freelancer economy and fostering tech innovation."

Tariq al Habsi, Co-founder & CEO of Zameeli, emphasised the platform’s dedication to its community, stating, “As Zameeli enters its growth phase, our recent fundraising efforts aim to empower our freelancers—the core of our community. We are allocating resources to ensure their active involvement in and benefit from the platform's future. Our vision is to develop Zameeli into a community-driven platform that shares its success with freelancers, reflecting the collaborative spirit that defines Oman's tech sector."
