Oman’s automobile fuel production soars by 57.4%

MUSCAT: The production of automobile fuel by refineries and petroleum industries in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 57.4 per cent by the end of January 2024, compared to the same month in 2023, according to preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).


Statistics indicated that the production of regular automobile fuel m-91 decreased by 17.9 per cent at the end of January 2024, compared to an increase of premium automobile fuel m-95 by 12.7 per cent. The production of automobile fuel m-91 reached about 1.184 million 200 barrels, while its sales amounted to 1.175 million barrels. The production of m-95 automobile fuel recorded about 951,000 barrels, with sales recording 993,000 barrels.


Diesel gas oil production decreased by 26.1 per cent, recording 2.101million barrels, and its sales recorded 1.137 million barrels. Aviation fuel production also increased by 39.7 per cent, recording 1.077 million barrels, and its sales recorded 383,000 barrels. The production of liquefied petroleum gas recorded 672,800 barrels, while its sales reached 808,000 barrels.


With regard to petrochemicals, statistics showed that gasoline production increased by 17.6 per cent, recording 13,500 metric tonnes, while the production of paraxylene reached 55,300 metric tonnes, rising by 56.5 per cent. Polypropylene production decreased by 16.4 per cent, recording 18,600 metric tonnes, but its sales increased by 64.8 per cent, recording 2,700 metric tonnes.


The Sultanate of Oman’s exports of m-91 fuel increased by 14.6 per cent to reach 227,300 barrels, while no exports of m-95 fuel were recorded until the end of last January. As for exports of diesel gas oil, it amounted to 709,400 barrels, and of aviation fuel 707,400 barrels, while exports of liquefied petroleum gas amounted to 102, 200 barrels.


Paraxylene exports amounted to 60,400 metric tonnes, gasoline exports amounted to 6,600 metric tonnes, and polypropylene exports amounted to 9,900 metric tonnes. — ONA
