Czech coach, Jaroslav Silhavy, is a busy man these days as he fine-tunes the Oman national team ahead of their crucial games against Malaysia in the double qualifiers for the Fifa World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup 2027.

Friday night training and technical workout was a continuation of the team’s preparations for the Malaysia match, which will be held in Muscat on March 21, Thursday, at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex at 10 pm (local time). The away game takes place in Kuala Lumpur on March 26.

The Red Warriors are underway in their domestic camp, which began on Tuesday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. They have completed five successful training sessions featuring a mixture of physical, technical, and tactical exercises. This was held under the watchful eyes of Silhavy and his assisting coaching staff, which comprised national coach Ali al Khanbashi, Chytry Jiri, and Venglarick Peter.

All the players in the squad took part in the session with goalie Ibrahim al Mukhaini and Adbulah Fawaz who joined late in the camp. All the players attended the workout, which was full of enthusiasm and seriousness ahead of the crucial forthcoming assignments.

Oman will look to exploit home conditions when it hosts Malaysia in group D of the joint qualifiers on Thursday. They are currently second in the pool with three points from two games while Malaysia leading the table with six points from the same games.

The 62-year-old coach called many former players to return to the national team’s squad including the striker Abdulaziz al Maqbali and Hatim al Roushdi and the defender Mohammed al Musallami.
