MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said that it has paid more than RO 216 million in private sector dues for existing development projects supervised by the ministry for 2023.

The ministry’s total financial revenues amounted to about RO 30 million at the end of last year, an increase of 66 per cent compared to 2022.

Fahd bin Salem al Hinai, Director-General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, confirmed that the ministry is keen to pay the private sector’s dues as soon as the documentary cycle is completed through the unified financial system of the Ministry of Finance.

The financial payments for projects were in the field of constructing and maintaining roads, and repairing the damage caused.

The road network has been affected due to the recent climatic conditions, digital transformation projects and initiatives in the communications and information technology sector.

Al Hinai said that the ministry implemented 230 programmes and training workshops in 2023, which varied between specialised, general administrative, and technical programmes, leadership programmes, and distance training programmes.

It also participated in internal and external training workshops, from which more than 1,916 male and female employees from various divisions of the ministry benefited.

The ministry also launched some systems to facilitate and accelerate the procedures for implementing and evaluating training programmes to ensure quality and performance.

He pointed out that the ministry employed 103 employees in 2023.

Meanwhile, 97 per cent of the technical jobs in the ministry’s sectors were replaced.— ONA
