MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman represented by the Oman Bodybuilding Committee (OBC) will host the West Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship in August in Muscat.
The announcement of hosting this major event took place during the 17th edition of the Oman bodybuilding and fitness championship which was concluded recently at the main hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher with the participation of more than 165 athletes across the Sultanate of Oman.
The forthcoming wide event will be held in Muscat during August 15 to 17, at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. It is expected the event will feature attendance of many athletes representing different part of the West Asian zone.
During the Oman bodybuilding and fitness championship, Rafael Santonja, President of the International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) attended the two days event beside attendance of many other officials including Chairman of Jordan bodybuilding Association, Chairman of West Asian Federation, Executive Director of Saudi bodybuilding Association and many other official delegates.
The event saw also awarding four Professional cards to the winners of the Championship. The tournament was dedicated for the Oman’s and expatriates athletes to give more chances for the athletes who are living in the Sultanate of Oman. The first day of the championship was for physique category while the following day was for the competitions of the bodybuilding. HH Sayyid Khalid bin Ghalib al Said was the chief guest of the final day and he delivered the awards to the top winners in presence of Dr Salim bin Said al Bahri, Chairman of OBC. The top winners of both categories will represent the Sultanate of Oman during the forthcoming wide Bodybuilding and Fitness events.
