CAIRO: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the 161st session of the Arab League Council at the foreign ministers level held at the Secretariat-General of the Arab League in the Egyptian capital Cairo, on Wednesday.

The Sultanate of Oman’s speech was delivered by Abdullah bin Nasser al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League.

Al Rahbi, head of the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation, stressed the need to conduct an independent investigation into the Israeli aggression and to prosecute Israel for its deliberate targeting of civilians in the Gaza Strip and their facilities, depriving the Palestinian population of their humanitarian needs, starving them, and subjecting them to siege and collective punishment.

Al Rahbi said that the Sultanate of Oman is following with great concern the continuing escalation in the region without a solution while the unjust Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip is claiming tens of thousands of innocent civilians, including children, youth and women. He pointed out that the Sultanate of Oman affirms that the establishment of a Palestinian state constitutes an existential necessity without which the world would have condemned the Palestinians to be under constant threat of destitution, extermination and death.

The permanent representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab League, called for holding an urgent international conference that brings together international parties to reach executive agreements that guarantee the achievement of a quick and effective solution. This conference, he said, should be attended by all components of the Palestinian society without exception.
