Muscat: All public, private and international schools will remain closed on Wednesday in governorates of Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Sharqiyah and North Al Sharqiyah due to the prevailing weather condition, Ministry of Education said in a statement on Tuesday.


Classes will resume on Thursday, March 07.


General of Education Directorate said other governorates should evaluate the situation and follow up the developments of the weather condition, and accordingly they take appropriate decision pertaining to classes suspension.


Heavy thundershowers accompanied by downdraft, fresh winds, and hail reported from various parts of the country will continue until Wednesday afternoon over the Governorates of AL Dhahira, Al Dakhylia, North Al Sharqiya, South Al Sharqiya and Al Wusta Governorates with precipitation ranging from 20 mm to 50 mm may associate with flash floods, with chance of varying intensity rainfall over the northern Governorates of Oman, Met Office said in a weather alert issued on Tuesday.
