Not long ago, I participated in Beijing the Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs, and I deeply felt the importance of this conference. Xi Jinping, President of China, attended the conference and delivered an important address, which presented a systematic review of the historic achievements and valuable experience of Chinese diplomacy in the new era and gave a profound exposition on the international environment and historical mission of China’s external work on the new journey.
As important outcome of the conference, it was clarified that promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind is the noble goal pursued by Chinese diplomacy.
For the present and coming periods, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, particularly Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, China’s diplomacy will adhere to the goals and tasks of Chinese-style modernisation, follow the principles of self-confidence and self-reliance, openness and inclusiveness, fairness and justice, and win-win cooperation. It also call for an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalisation.
In building a community with a shared future for mankind, the goal is to build an open, inclusive, clean and beautiful world of lasting peace, universal security and shared prosperity, the pathway is promoting global governance that features extensive consultation and joint contribution for shared benefit, the guiding principle is to apply the common values of humanity, the basic underpinning lies in building a new type of international relations, the strategic guidance comes from the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilisation Initiative, and the platform for action is high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
On this basis, we seek to bring countries together to meet challenges and achieve prosperity for all, and usher in a bright future of peace, security, prosperity and progress for our world.
The proposal to build a community with a shared future for mankind has received positive responses from countries around the world in the past 10 years. It has expanded from a Chinese initiative to an international consensus, and from a beautiful vision to rich practice. At the same time, we must also see that the world today is facing a series of major issues and challenges, and there is a long way to go to build a community with a shared future for mankind. How can we gather global efforts to build a community with a shared future for mankind? The meeting gave the answer, which is calls for an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalisation.
It was pointed out at the conference that an equal and orderly multipolar world is one in which all countries, regardless of size, are treated as equals, hegemonism and power politics are rejected, and democracy is truly promoted in international relations. To keep the progress toward greater multipolarity generally stable and constructive, the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter must be observed by all, the universally recognised, basic norms governing international relations must be upheld by all, and true multilateralism must be practiced.
A universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalisation is one that meets the common needs of all countries, especially the developing countries, and properly addresses the development imbalances between and within countries resulting from the global allocation of resources. It is important to resolutely oppose the attempt to roll back globalisation and abuse the concept of security, oppose all forms of unilateralism and protectionism, firmly promote trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation, overcome the structural problems hindering the healthy development of the world economy, and make economic globalisation more open, inclusive, balanced and beneficial to all.
China and the Arab countries account for about a quarter of the world’s population, and both are essential members of the developing world and major forces in the international stage. Over the years, the Chinese and Arab civilisations interacted with and inspired each other across the Asian continent, leaves a splendid chapter in mutual learning, and mutual help. In December 2022, the first China-Arab Summit was successfully held. China and Arab states jointly issued the Riyadh Declaration, in which both sides agreed to make all-out efforts to build a China-Arab community with a shared future in the new era, deepen China-Arab strategic partnership, advocate multilateralism, and strengthen cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Oman is an important country in the Middle East and the Gulf region and a strategic partner of China. Over the past 45 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China has always regarded Oman as a good and trustworthy friend. In the face of international situation changes, the two countries have insisted on mutual support, close cooperation, complementarity and common development, and have developed exchanges and cooperation in various fields on the basis of mutual respect, equal treatment and mutual benefit.
China attaches great importance to developing relations with Oman and is willing to work with Oman to jointly build the “The Belt and Road” with high quality, deepen practical cooperation, and promote the construction of a China-Oman community with a shared future!
