Muscat: In a global outage affecting users worldwide, social media enthusiasts in Oman are grappling with widespread login issues on Meta-owned platforms Facebook and Instagram. Reports from the Downdetector website indicate that users across the globe, including in Oman, are experiencing disruptions, with many unable to access their accounts. The hashtags "FacebookDown" and "InstagramDown" are trending on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Downdetector, a platform for reporting outages, recorded a peak with over 15,000 reports submitted. Approximately 77% of affected users reported issues with the applications, while 21% reported problems accessing the websites.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has not released an official statement addressing the outage. Meanwhile, X has become a hub of memes and discussions, with users expressing concerns about the service downtime.
