Suhar: In today's rapidly evolving world, fostering a culture of student research is essential to encourage innovation, critical thinking, and intellectual growth. Encouraging students to engage in research not only cultivates their academic prowess but also equips them with essential skills needed for success in the 21st century.

By involving them into scientific life and contexts, students learn to analyse complex problems, think creatively, and develop solutions that address real-world challenges. The intersection of student research with modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics, show the impact and relevance of their findings.

All this was evident when the fourth Student Research Conference 2024 which was held at Sohar University participants shared insights on how knowledge and innovation are the driving forces of societal advancement.

Dr Nedhal al Shamali, head of the programmes and activities in the conference highlighted the objectives and themes of a conference in the fields of language, literature, and education. "The conference emphasises the importance of integrating scholarly research into practical contexts and fostering academic and research connections among student researchers in Oman" Dr Nedhal said.

“The conference aims to address contemporary issues in Arabic language studies, language learning methods, Omani literature, educational curricula development, modern teaching approaches, and the impact of artificial intelligence on education. These topics are aligned with Oman's strategic vision for 2040.” he added.

Rapid advancements in the field of artificial intelligence have made it possible to develop learning systems to analyse data and provide customised recommendations for each student based on their abilities and educational needs.

This assists teachers in effectively guiding students and enhancing their educational self-experience. “Artificial intelligence can be used to develop interactive and customizable learning systems that allow students to access diverse educational materials tailored to their academic level and personal interests. With continued advancements in this field, we can expect further improvements and innovations in the field of artificial intelligence education in the future," said Dr Daoud al Hamdani, Dean of Master and PDH programmes at Sohar University.

In essence, the student research and its integration with modern technologies is not only about advancing academic excellence but also about shaping a brighter, more prosperous future for Oman and its citizens. By empowering students to become active contributors to knowledge creation and technological innovation, Oman can position itself as a hub of innovation and progress in the region and area around.
