AGM meeting discuss Tent Pegging development

MUSCAT: The Annual General Assembly Meeting of the International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF) approved in Muscat, discussed many relevant topics to the development of the Tent Pegging sport at the World level.


The meeting confirmed the next edition of the World Cup for Tent Pegging which will be held in 2026 beside various of Tent Pegging Championships and events in 2024 and 2025.


Russia requested to host ITPF Traditional Dress Championship in July and Friendship Championship in August this year, both requests were accepted by AGM members.


AGM confirmed also Pakistan hosting of U-21 Youth Championship.


The 2024 ITPF annual general meeting took place in Muscat under chairmanship of Mohammed Issa al Fairuz, Chairman of ITPF, and in presence of all the members. The meeting discussed many agendas related to improvement of the tent Pegging at globally level.

Moreover, the members approved Turkey membership in the ITPF beside accepting the agenda of 2024 and 2025 events which will include several events namely: Qualifying tournaments for World Cup, the U-16 Junior Championship, the U-21 Youth Championship, the Veteran Championship, the Beach Championship, the Women’s Championship, the Military Championship, the Universities Championship, the Championship of traditional dress Championship, the Friendship Championship, and the Club Championship.


During the meeting, the admin and financial reports were reviewed and approved by Mohammed al Fairuz, Chairman of ITPF delivered a speech during the meeting as he said, ”It is with great pleasure that we express our thanks and immense gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for hosting the headquarters of the ITPF. We also extend our appreciation for the financial and moral support provided by the esteemed government,”

“In early 2023, Sudan had hosted the qualification tournament for the fourth World Cup in 2023 for the group four in January. The event featured participating of six teams: Sudan, Canada, India, Bahrain, Norway, and South Africa. Sudan and India qualified from this group. As sideline of the tournament, series of international courses and workshops for referees and coaches were conducted including awarding silver and gold badges fir umpires and coaches.


Egypt, in the same month, hosted the qualification tournament for Group One, with six participating teams as Egypt and Saudi Arabia secured qualification. In February, Pakistan hosted the qualification tournament for Group Three, with five participating teams and both Pakistan and Jordan qualified for the World Cup.

Oman hosted the qualification tournament for Group Two in March with five participating teams and Oman and Yemen qualified from this group. At the conclusion of the group qualifiers, eight teams, along with the host country, qualified for the fourth World Cup in 2023. These teams were South Africa, Norway, India, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Oman, and the hosts country South Africa,”


The Chairman of ITPF expressed gratitude to all countries hosting the qualifying tournaments particularly congratulating South Africa for hosting the World Cup and Saudi Arabia for winning and being crowned the World Cup champions in 2023.


At the end of the meeting, the floor was open for all the members to ask, propose and provide their ideas for the improvement of the Tent Pegging sport.
