SUHAR: The number of companies and factories that were localised in the Suhar Industrial City during the past year 2023 reached 44 projects with an investment value of approximately RO 84 million, bringing the total number of localised projects to 383 projects with an investment volume exceeding RO 2.2 billion .
Engineer Abdullah bin Ahmed al Mayasi, Director General of Suhar Industrial City, said: The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), represented by Suhar Industrial City, continues its efforts in developing industry and encouraging the private sector to move towards industrialisation and contribute to economic development in the Sultanate of Oman, as it is making strenuous efforts. By localising projects and providing a suitable environment for their establishment, the city achieved remarkable growth in performance indicators over the past year.
He added to the Oman News Agency (ONA) that there are eight factories that have completed the construction and preparation phase and will begin the production phase soon, adding that last year witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Madayn and OQ to develop a plastic industries complex in Suhar Industrial City, where land with an area of one million square meters was allocated in the area.
Sohar Industrial City will establish a complex for the production of plastic products with high added value, where Madayn will provide lands for projects at incentive prices and reduced service fees.
He explained that the complex is expected to provide many investment opportunities, especially in the field of plastic manufacturing industries. He mentioned the presence of various sectors in the Suhar Industrial City, including: petrochemical industries, building materials, chemical industries, information technology, warehouses and logistics, clothing and fabrics, medicines, metal and food manufacturing, in addition to plastic industries. — ONA
