Oman’s Real Madrid Academy shines in Manchester City Club Championship

The Sultanate of Oman’s Real Madrid Football Academy was crowned as champions of the Manchester City Club Championship which concluded recently in Abu Dhabi. Oman’s accomplishment in this junior football category is a historic achievement. The international football academies championship featured participation of more than 166 international teams and academies from around 41 nations and the participating teams played 573 matches.


The triumph of the under-14 team of Oman’s Real Madrid Academy over UAE’s Al Jazeera club came in penalties after a tight final clash. The national representative topped the group during the group stage matches after they won all their games against academies from Spain and UK. In the following round, Real Madrid Academy in Oman defeated Bani Yas club, Empire Blue Academy and Jubro Academy from the UK.


Similarly, the under-16 team of Oman’s Real Madrid Football Academy succeeded in winning the tournament thanks to their historical win in the concluding clash over Al Fursan Academy which is owned by the Former Spanish Player Míchel Salgado. In the knockout stages, Oman team registered crucial wins against Manchester City, Prime Football Academy UK, The Brooke House College Football Academy and Juventus Football Academy.


Commenting on the impressive show and historic accomplishment of Oman’s Real Madrid Football Academy in Manchester City Club Championship in Abu Dhabi, Khamis Obaid al Ajmi, Chairman of Oman’s Real Madrid Football Academy, said:” Winning of two teams from Real Madrid Football Academy in Oman against strong rivals and well known teams in the region reflects the top technical capacity and ability of Academy and its technical, and training programme. I am praising the commitment of the players and the coaching staff. The full support of the players' parents played a significant role in both achievements. Thanks to the junior players who worked very hard in the academy to show this top performance. I hope they will continue in their hard training to reach the desired technical levels.”


Real Madrid Academy started its technical and training programme in the Sultanate of Oman in August 2022 targeting different age groups. The academy aims to train and develop players using advanced coaching methods, benefiting from the expertise and experience of Real Madrid's coaching staff. The programmes cover a range of sports-related activities, educational initiatives, and diverse training methods.


The Academy's goal is to enhance the football skills and values of Omani youth, aligning with the international standards and providing opportunities for talent development. The programme includes specialised training for performance improvement and education, utilising digital platforms for precise analysis of players' performance."
