Muscat: The French Embassy in the Sultanate of Oman, in cooperation with the Omani-French Friendship Association, held a workshop on exploring the challenges and opportunities for developing the clean energy supply chain under the patronage of Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals.
The event brought together key stakeholders and experts to explore the challenges and opportunities in advancing clean energy initiatives in Oman as well as setting the stage for insightful conversations.
The forum comprised three comprehensive panels addressing crucial aspects of clean energy transition: Clean Energies Supply Chain in Oman Context, Legislation and Certification for Low Carbon Energy and Financing Large Clean Energy Projects.
Al Aufi gave a speech in which he emphasised the unique approach to the energy transition in the Sultanate of Oman, which takes a distinct approach to the orderly energy transition, with the aim of becoming a major supplier of global energy while moving to more clean sources.
He focused on the hydrogen supply chain, as the Sultanate of Oman is distinguished by the capabilities of producing energy at competitive prices and is currently giving priority to developing the infrastructure for the hydrogen supply chain to enable current developers to reduce production costs. Al Aufi highlighted the importance of accelerating hydrogen development, as the government is working to accelerate project approvals to attract developers and enhance hydrogen production.
He also mentioned that the Sultanate of Oman welcomes cooperation with the Republic of France in this field, especially in the hydrogen sector, to benefit from expertise and achieve the goals. The forum concluded with a speech from the Head of Economic Department at the French Embassy, emphasising the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving sustainable development goals.
