MUSCAT: Activities of the annual symposium of strategic issues titled 'Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability of Development' began on Sunday in the National Defence College at the Academy of Strategic and Defence Studies.

The event was held under the auspices of Maj Gen Abdullah bin Ali al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Customs and Operations.

The symposium includes a set of themes, most importantly the national challenges and artificial intelligence, and international experiences in utilising artificial intelligence.

It also reviews the importance of investing in artificial intelligence technologies and ways to apply them in the fields of security, health, economics, and education in a manner that enhances the quality of life. It is worth noting that the annual symposium on strategic issues comes within the curriculum of the 11th national defence course, which runs till February 22.

A number of government units in Oman and some academics and specialists from Arab and foreign countries are taking part in the symposium. - ONA
